How to Sew a Wine Bottle Bag

The gift of wine to a host is always a sophisticated way of showing your appreciation. Where as a good tasting is only as good as a full glass, the bag it is presented it will last forever. Here is an easy method to making a wine bag. Easy enough for even the most novice of sewers!

Needed materials: 1 yard fabric, wired ribbon, hem tape if desired. (and of course needle and matching thread)

1. Begin by laying out the material on a flat surface. Place the bottle in the center of the fabric.

2. Pull the fabric up around the bottle. Trim the top to the desired height. Allowing 1/2" for step 3 (4 inches above the neck is a good stopping point.)

3. Fold the top 1/4" use iron to crease. Fold another 1/4" and crease.

4. Hand stitch the hem. (*Tip* Hemming tape is a good reinforcement and will hold the hem down while you sew)

5. Insert wine bottle and fold bottom over as if wrapping a package (*Tip* Again, use hem tape to secure.)

6. Stitch the flaps of the package fold.

7. Tie ribbon around neck for esthetics.
