A Fast Inexpensive Grape Press

Having a grape juice maker where you can make your own juice from red and white fruit and grapes is a wonderful thing. With the home made grape press, you can have fresh squeezed juice every day. But how do you make your own homemade grape press?

Here's an idea on how a wine lover can make his own grape juice press:

The very easiest and most convenient way to make a grape press is to take at least four five-gallon pails and fill them with about 3-4 gallons of grapes. Just be sure to leave at least 8 inches of space between the top of the grapes and the top of the bucket. This is done to help protect against spillage. Take a sturdy piece of 4 x 4 wood (make sure it isn't a dirty old log or something for that matter. If you have a masher, go ahead and use it.), long enough so you don't have to bend over, and begin mashing the grapes. This will be a tedious job. Once you have the grapes partially mashed, take half of them and put them into the second bucket and continue smashing them until you receive the desired amount of juice that you need for your recipe.

I don't think this is anything that I would do. I would probably buy the grape press from the store rather than making one myself. But doing your own, as stated above, would actually be quite fun.
